FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman
FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman, produced by public TV station WGBH, is a daily half-hour PBS television series with accompanying Web and outreach activities targeted to 6- to 10-year olds. The goals of the series are to help the target audience, especially girls and minorities, develop the interest, knowledge and skills necessary to do science; help kids develop the math skills and knowledge necessary to solve science and engineering problems; and bring FETCH's unique brand of informal science learning to camps across the country.
CEG has evaluated the impact of the TV series and outreach resources, using experimental studies for which we recruited afterschool programs and camps from around the country.
CEG has also performed an experiment to evaluate the effectiveness of an online training developed as an outreach component of the FETCH! series. The FETCH! Hands-On Science Training was designed for anyone who wants to lead science activities with elementary-age kids (including after-school providers, teachers, camp counselors, librarians, museum staff, parents, and others).
