Headache Impact Assessment
QualityMetric Incorporated (QM) contracted with CEG (formerly Veridian inSight) to support Phase II of QM's ongoing project to develop the HEADACHE-CATâ„¢ application for the measurement of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in the area of headaches. The specific aim of the debriefing study was to evaluate alternate approaches to simplifying HEADACHE-CAT item content. CEG conducted individual cognitive interview sessions to evaluate potential sources of response error in the survey questionnaire that may affect results (e.g., problems that will reduce response reliability or change the meaning of responses). As part of the cognitive interview sessions, CEG conducted a comparative mode study to determine user preferences regarding three different modes of survey presentation. In addition to the cognitive interview sessions, CEG conducted a readability analysis of the items where it subjected the items and instructions to a set of 34 heuristics to identify areas where readability could be improved for greater applicability in the general population. QM used the study findings to make enhancements to the HEADACHE-CAT instrument.
